the wumc missions committee
The WUMC Missions Committee is charged with the responsibility of collecting donations for missions supported by The United Methodist Church throughout West Virginia and the entire world.
We have cookbooks available for $10 each. This money goes directly to the Celebration of Mission Event, held each spring in our district. The money is then allocated to our designated mission projects.
You can order this book by mailing a check to WUMC, 3602 Auburn Road, Huntington, WV 25704. Please include your contact information so we can mail the book to you at our expense!
It is important to note that the members of the Westmoreland United Methodist Church actively support the Backpack Program. This is a program that supplies food to be placed in backpacks to children who may not necessarily have enough food at home.
We collect non-perishable, nutritious food that is easy to eat and to prepare. For many children in our country, school meals are the only ones they have available to eat. What happens on the weekend? The food we collect helps these children have food to eat during those times they are not in school. Each backpack offers enough food that children can easily assemble into six healthy meals. (Please refer to https://feedmore.org.childrens-progam )
